Bathroom Break!
Content warning: this game contains some transphobia, specifically arguments made against including trans people in the Equality Act 2010's definition of "woman".
Bathroom Break! explores the treatment of trans people in the United Kingdom. It was created following the Supreme Court ruling in 2025 regarding the definition of "woman" in the Equality Act 2010.
The game was created as part of my final project in MSc Creative Technologies, and investigates queer approaches to game design, including structuring based on the concept of queer temporality, and sound design based on the concept of queer failure.
This is the first of a set of two games created for my Master's degree exploring the topics of queerness and the mistreatment of trans people in the UK.
The game was originally created as a live performance - an audience member would play the game while the soundtrack was performed live alongside the gameplay. This version includes the music so the game can be played outside the performance space.
The game contains two samples:

I hope you enjoy!
